Seedance 2.5 can make a quick, low-cost 480p draft first. When you like the draft, upscale it to 1080p with the same prompt, references and settings, instead of paying for full resolution on every try.

Make a draft

  1. In the video generator, choose Seedance 2.5.
  2. Under Output, keep Resolution on 480p Draft. It’s the first option and the default.
  3. Check Cost and choose Generate.
The Resolution menu open on Seedance 2.5's Output settings, showing 480p Draft, 480p, 720p and 1080p, with a cost estimate of about $0.71 for a 5-second draft.
The draft is billed as a 480p video. Only a 480p Draft can be upscaled later; plain 480p makes a finished video.

Upscale it

In Generations, the draft’s card shows Upscale draft and how long you have left. You can upscale a draft for 7 days after you make it.

  1. Choose Upscale draft on the draft’s card in list view, or in the viewer when you open the draft. Grid tiles don’t show it.
  2. Check the estimated cost, then choose Upscale to 1080p.

The upscale keeps the draft’s prompt, references, settings, naming and seed. Each upscale is a new generation, billed separately. In this example, the 5-second draft was estimated at $0.71 and its 1080p upscale at $3.76. The 1080p video appears in Generations as its own result. The draft shows Upscaled to 1080p with a link to it, and Upscale again if you want another take.

Good to know

  • In Generate, Upscale draft appears on your own drafts. To upscale a teammate’s draft, open it in the Library’s viewer. The upscale is your own generation.
  • To try a variation, use Reuse parameters on the draft, not on the upscaled video.
