# Download

> Download one asset or many, or save a copy in another size or format.

Downloads are the original files, with their full file names.

## Download one asset

Hover over an asset and choose the download button, or open it and choose
**Download**.

When a project's [**Metadata files**](https://docs.zerogen.com/foundations/projects.md#project-settings)
setting is on, downloading a generated asset also saves a JSON file describing
how it was made. To get only one of the two, open the asset's menu and choose
**Download** › **Download media only** or **Download metadata only**.

![An asset's menu with Download open, offering Download, Download media only and Download metadata only.](https://mintcdn.com/zero-gen/m4I7fPs1rAXZSMjU/images/library/download-menu.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=m4I7fPs1rAXZSMjU\&q=85\&s=c369fe19e11595d719fd79fe03c94b51)

## Download several assets

1. Select the assets, or choose **Select all**.
2. Choose **Actions** › **Download**.

The files download one after another, not as a single zip file. With nothing
selected, **Actions** offers to download everything in the current view.
Folders can't be downloaded this way. Open a folder and select its assets
instead.

## Download a comparison

While comparing an asset with its references in a tiled layout, **Download
comparison** saves the layout as one file: a PNG for images, or a video when
you compare videos. See
[Review and compare](https://docs.zerogen.com/library/review-and-compare.md#compare-with-its-references).

## Save a copy in another size or format

Open an image's menu and choose **Convert** › **Resize…**, **To PNG**,
**To JPEG** or **To WebP**. To keep one frame of a video, open the video and
choose **Save frame**, or choose **Convert** › **Take a frame…** from its
menu.

The copy is free. It's saved beside the original, marked **Derived**, and the
original stays as it was. Download the copy like any other asset.
