# LucidLink

> Browse your filespace, import files and export generated assets.

If your organization works in a LucidLink filespace, ZeroGen can connect to
it. Everyone in the organization can then browse the filespace from ZeroGen,
bring files into the Library, and send generated work back.

LucidLink is available to organizations that set it up with ZeroGen. An Owner
or Admin creates a key in LucidLink and gives it to ZeroGen, and there's no
setup inside the app. Deleting that key in LucidLink cuts ZeroGen off.

## Browse the filespace

In the Library sidebar, under **External sources**, choose **LucidLink**. The
same source appears in Generate's reference picker.

* Switch between column view and list view, and sort by name, kind, size or
  date created.
* Select a file to see its size, dates and location.
* Choose refresh to see the folder's latest contents.

## Import files

1. Open the Library folder you want the files in, then open **LucidLink**.
2. Select files and choose **Import**. The destination folder shows beside the
button. Select it to choose another folder, or **Unfiled**.

To import a whole folder with its subfolders, select the folder. If the
Library already has a folder with that name, choose **Merge** or **Keep
both**. One import can hold up to 1,000 files in 100 folders.

* Each file can be up to 200 MB.
* Images, video and audio in common formats can be imported. Other files show
as **Preview only**, and a folder import lists what it skipped.
* A file your project already has isn't copied again. It's added to the
  destination folder instead.
* If you reload or close the tab during an import, ZeroGen asks first, and
  **Resume import** carries on.

To use a LucidLink file as a reference in Generate, choose it in the reference
picker. ZeroGen imports it into the Library first.

## Export generated work

You can send generated assets to LucidLink. Uploads and imported files can't
be exported.

1. Select generated assets in the Library.
2. Choose **Actions**, then **Export *N* items**, and pick a folder in the
   filespace.

Exported files keep their Library names, and ZeroGen never overwrites a file
that's already there. Each file can be up to 200 MB. If the project's
**Metadata files** setting is on, a JSON file with each asset's details goes
beside it. See [Projects](https://docs.zerogen.com/foundations/projects.md#project-settings).

### Linked folders

Owners and Admins can link a Library folder to a folder in the filespace:

1. Open the Library folder.
2. Choose **Actions › Set up linked folder**, and pick a folder in the
   filespace.

Linking doesn't export anything by itself. Inside a linked folder, a
LucidLink button shows the destination's name. Choose it, then **Export to
linked folder** to send the folder's generated assets there. With assets
selected, the export starts in the linked folder instead.

From the same button, Owners and Admins can choose **Change linked folder…**
or **Unlink folder**. Unlinking leaves files already in LucidLink as they are.
**Project settings** lists every linked folder in the project.

Only Owners and Admins can delete a Library folder that's linked to LucidLink.

## Pin folders

Pin a filespace folder you use often. **Pin for me** adds it to your own
sidebar. Owners and Admins can choose **Pin for everyone** to add it for the
whole project. Pins appear under **External sources** in the Library and in
the reference picker.

## If something goes wrong

| Message | What to do |
| - | - |
| LucidLink is busy. Try again shortly. | Wait a moment and try again. |
| This file is no longer in the filespace. | Refresh the folder and try again. |
| That folder isn't available. | If nothing loads, ask an Owner or Admin to check the LucidLink connection. |
| The LucidLink connection cannot write to this folder. | Ask an Owner or Admin to check the connection's access. |
